Located in French part of Pondicherry.
Span of construction 18 months.
Built up area = 3000 sq.ft.The street character is as peculiar as other streets in town contained by boulevard.
The plot size with very narrow proportions of 4.3m x 23m
made it difficult to bring natural light and ventilation through the buildings,
which have no side windows.
Project was to create a tall, narrow residence that lets daylight penetrate its walls and floors.
We introduced courtyard and light wells in different forms to bring light and ventilation.
The main theme of this house is to explore the possibility
of having spaces in which such dark and humid spaces can be improved drastically
into bright and open ones.
